Many "why" Questions
“Dad, why did that happen? What does this mean? Dad, tell me why?” I was a little girl who bothered her father by asking him so many “why” questions, growing up seeking the truth, which is the most valuable thing and transcends the world. I decided to spend my life getting closer to the truth. I saw two ways that would lead me there: the nearest, which is the emotional way of knowing right and wrong, and the clearest way, which is the scientific way. Being a student who approaches the world as a researcher was, is and always will be the key to achieve my dream. Getting deeper and deeper into knowledge makes me more aware of the things I cannot see and how I am connected with all of my surroundings. The strong link between you, me and the world unifies us to be a mirror for bigger values such as balance, fairness, and diligence. You see this when a breeze blows past as a result of the beautiful beach’s waves, the leaves in the trees start dancing. All of this is Physics, a reaction to shifts in energy. In other words, this natural scene reflects the connections and unity of life. Understanding this teaches us balance and gives our lives meaning. A happy life does not mean to be only a good student or to have a great job. There is much more than that. Every aspect of life should have a positive influence on the other aspects in our lives and people around us like we see in the energy shifts to keep the balance. I am moved to understand the beauty and unseen order of the natural world and to seek harmony, both in the natural world and in human connections. |
It is true that I have fallen in love with many science subjects. Chemistry is my favorite when I go to the atom and explore the tiny things inside it. Another love is Biology when it comes to the human body, namely the brain and its amazing function. I also love Mathematics because I can play with numbers logically. I admire physic for teaching me that the world is much simpler than I previously thought bysimplifying mysterious phenomena into equations. However after accumulating all this knowledge, I have decided to start my journey with Computer Science.
Computer Science is a good foundation for my journey to be built on. It is an exciting major in coding and operating systems that can help further my understanding of other scientific concepts. The lessons learned in Computer Science can reinforce the application of pure science, and that is what I am going for. Since my first “Why, dad?”, I have been pursuing knowledge, and I will never stop chasing my dream of getting closer to the truth. It is a strong desire deep inside me as a life-long scholar. |
